Weather Resistant

Jacket: Minusey (similar here and here ) | Stole: Cotton Face Vintage | Turtle-neck: River Island (on sale!) (similar here and here) | Leather Trousers: Penneys/Primark (similar here and here) | Ankle Boots: ASOS(on sale!) | Watch: Michael Kors (more affordable versions herehere and here

As much as I love living in dear ol' Ireland, I gotta admit it, the weather is pretty brutal at times. Just when I was starting to get back into the swing of outfit posts again, the weather decides to implode on itself, leaving me to compete with snow blizzards and red-warnings when shooting outfits! Surprisingly, there are some beautiful bursts of sunshine between the showers/icy winds and I've been trying to make the most out of them.

This outfit is a mix of mostly new pieces, including this beautiful and oh-so-soft faux fur throw I picked up from Cotton Face Vintage. CFV is an amazing online vintage shop, who's founder Sinead has recently opened a boutique in my hometown of Galway, which I cannot wait to visit. I think stoles are such a clever styling tool in that they add that little something extra to just about any outfit. I threw mine over my biker jacket and turtle-neck to add dose of daytime glam, and a bit of extra warmth of course!

After wearing my old H&M leather trousers to bits, I finally had to put them out to pasture, but thankfully I found these replacements in Penneys this week for a fantastic price. If you're on the lookout for a good pair of leather 'trews I strongly recommend checking them out. These ASOS ankle boots are a recent purchase also, and I think the cuban heel makes them juuuust causal enough for daytime wear. Plus, they're currently on sale! All in all, I think the whole ensemble makes for a surprisingly weather-resistant outfit. Here's hoping we can all start shedding some of our winter layers soon!

Hoping you're all having a great week so far, and that you're staying warm and cosy despite the crazy weather outside.

Peace,
WildChild,

New In: Accessories

I just wanted to to a quick post to show you guys some of the gorgeous accessories I picked up from Boohoo.com recently. As a blogger, its always such a pleasure collaborate with great brands, so when the lovely people over at Boohoo asked me to get involved with their #OWNIT campaign, I was over the moon!

As a brand, Boohoo are experimenting with new shapes and trends at the moment, and they have asked me to choose one style from their latest lookbook and style it up on two different looks. Getting to style up two full outfits from the Boohoo website was a real treat, I felt very lucky indeed! I am eagerly awaiting for the weather to improve so I can get out and shoot the looks I've chosen, but in the meantime I thought I'd give you guys a little sneak-peek at some of the accessories I'm working with.

For me, accessories are such an important part of getting dressed, as they have the power to transform a plain outfit into something really special. I am so happy with this blue statement necklace, it will be the perfect for throwing on over a daytime look to give it that bit extra sparkle, and just look at that quilted chain strap bag! I have been daydreaming about a Chanel 2.55 for the longest time now (who hasn't?) and this little beauty is certainly curbing my cravings for now. Its also very good quality, which is a plus considering how great value it is. You may have already seen a snap of this blue velvet clutch on my instagram (@ciaraodoherty) yesterday, isn't it just adorable? Just a simple piece that adds a touch of glamour to an outfit, and just enough space to hold the essentials!

Now we need to talk about the shoes, oh, the shoes! It's no secret to anyone that I have a slight shoe-problem, (if you don't believe me, check out this photo) and I just feel that they are such an powerful styling tool. Even though its still pretty nippy outside, I will be breaking out these gorgeous chunky gladiator sandals as soon as I can, they're also called Ciara too, which I feel is a sign from the fashion-gods. The second pair I chose were these pointed ankle boots, and I really don't think my choice needs explaining, just look at them! They are beyond fabulous, and surprisingly comfortable despite how fierce they look. I am obsessing over all boots pointed and black right now, and so these babies (with the added sexy ankle cuff) have me completely swooning!

I'll hopefully be shooting the full outfits over the next few days, so stay tuned to see the finished projects on the blog soon! Hope you're all having a wonderful week so far,

Peace,

WildChild,

All Black Everything

Coat: Next (similar here, here and here) | Gilet: eBay (Similar here and here) | Leather pants: H&M (similar here and here) | Turtle-Neck: Penneys (similar here and here) | Ankle boots: River Island (similar here and here) Necklaces: MyNameNecklace.ie | Bag: Misstella

As I mentioned in my previous post, the bad weather we've been having here in Ireland lately has made it near impossible for me to take any outfit posts for the blog, which is such a shame! I managed to squeeze in these pictures a few days ago in the early morning, but the rain meant I had to give up and run inside halfway through. I still managed to get a few pictures which I thought I'd share, so forgive me if they seem a bit rushed!

In this post, I wanted to show you guys a typical outfit I would wear to work in the wintertime. As you can see, there's lots of black going on, as well as LOTS of layers! I find that mixing textures is a great way to make an all-black outfit look that bit more exciting, and here I have layered one of my favourite faux-fur gilets over a tweed-effect coat to give me that extra warmth that I need in the cold weather. Turtlenecks are also key for staying cosy, I have been living in them all winter!

Of course, no all-black ensemble would be complete without a little bit of leather, and this new bag I got from Misstella certainly ticks that box. I was kindly asked to pick an item of my choosing from their website recently, and when I spotted this gorgeous minimal tote, I knew it would make for the perfect everyday bag a girl-on-the-go like myself. The material is a buttery soft soft imitation leather, and this particular tote actually comes as part of a set of three pieces, so you really do get a lot for your money. After using the bag everyday at work for about a week or so, I can happily say that it is becoming an essential in my accessories arsenal, also it reminds me so much of the Céline black shopper-tote!

As Spring is finally here (yaaaaay!) I plan on taking lots more outfit posts for the blog (weather providing) as I have so many new pieces to share with you all! Also, you may have spotted on my facebook or instagram yesterday that I will be collaborating with Boohoo.com on some fun outfit projects for their new #OWNIT campaign soon, so be sure to stay tuned for that!

I hope you're all having a lovely relaxing Sunday,
Peace,
WildChild

January Wishlist

Now that January is nearly over, it's time to get excited about Spring! The thought of (slightly) warmer days and more sunshine has me so excited, one of the reasons being that its been pretty much impossible to shoot any outfit posts over the last two months! So as you can imagine, Im dying for a little more sunshine in my life! My thoughts of Spring has me loving all things pastel at the minute, and I'm finding myself daydreaming about candy-coloured hues and soft cotton textures while the weather rages outside my window. View and shop my wishlist below:

Above are some of the pieces I've been lusting after this month, there's a lot of pastel in there! I feel like I've been wearing so many dark colours lately, and incorporating some pastel in to my wardrobe will be a welcome change. I've also included some fun accessories to give the pastel looks a little punch, including this utterly adorable Olympia Le-Tan lookalike milk-carton bag (which is an absolute steal over on Romweas well as these beautiful metallic ASOS pumps, and some cute sunglasses to complete the look, and shield my peepers from the Spring sunshine of course!

I've also included some beauty picks in my wishlist for the first time, as beauty is something I'm trying to incorporate into my blog more this year. I've been on the hunt for a new foundation for a few weeks now, and so many of you have recommend Estée Lauder's double wear to me, I'm excited to try it out for myself! I'm also lusting after some gorgeous lipsticks from the YSL range, I'm a complete sucker for that beautiful packaging!

PVC is set be big for SS'14, and it's a trend that I have completely fallen in love with. I recently purchased a baby pink pvc pencil skirt from Missguided (see outfit post here) and I am so pleased with that one, that I'm seriously tempted to invest in the powder blue shade too, isn't it just the cutest?! This ASOS trumpet-hem skirt is a little bit pricer, but it would be the perfect statement piece for a Spring wedding, or any other formal occasion for that matter!

Over all I think this is a pretty solid wishlist to start 2014 with, and I will be picking up some of the above pieces to help take my wardrobe into the new season... roll on payday!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
Peace,
WildChild,

WildChild Updates / New Blog Series: The Career Diaries

I can't believe this is my first post of 2014 you guys, where has January gone?! I really wanted to do a little update post, for you all, as I haven't been the best at blogging over the past month or so, and for that I'm very sorry! As most of you know, Im usually a very regular blogger, but I have good reason for my absence, I promise!

Things have been pretty hectic with work in iClothing recently, I'm busy working on some exciting new projects for 2014 with my team, as well as keeping up my regular shoots and styling work. I also have a few personal projects I've been working away on recently that have been taking up a lot of my free time, hence the lack of blog-posts.

Now, I know it must be annoying to hear me allude to various projects without sharing any details, but unfortunately I have to keep some of them under wraps until they are finished. You can rest assured that I really cannot wait to share them with you all,  and as soon as they're launched, you'll be the first to know! One of the projects that I can share details of with you however, is that I have been working on is a complete re-design of WildChild Stories. I have been spending the last few months working on a new website, and thankfully, its very nearly finished and I am so excited for the big reveal. I has taken a lot of planning and work (not to mention hours upon hours chained to my laptop) but I am so happy with how its turning out so far, and here's hoping I can finish it soon!

The second update that I wanted to share with you all is that I am finally going to start my iClothing blog series, which I have promised to so many of you. After MUCH deliberation, I have decided to call it "The Career Diaries" which will be an ongoing series on my blog a where I can share details of my stylist work with iClothing, and any other (non-blogging related) fashion and broadcasting projects that I'm involved in.

Before I begin this series however, I just want to clarify that I am no expert in this area, as a matter of fact I am exactly the opposite, I'm just a girl who decided to go for it, and somehow managed to land a great job in the industry, and I'm pretty much figuring it all out as I go. The aim of this blog-series is to give you guys a real inside look at a newbie like myself's journey into the fashion industry, details of projects Im working on, challenges Im facing, and most importantly tips and tricks I'm learning along the way. It's basically going to be an honest account of my journey.
Successes, failures, and everything in between!

Throughout my years blogging, I have received many emails and messages from readers asking for advice and information on working in the Irish fashion Industry, whether it's advice about various internships and courses, or questions about how I got my job in iClothing, or how exactly I made it to this where I am now. I always try my best to give to everyone with honest, informative answers, but I can be difficult replying to people separately, so this Career Diaries Series is for you guys!

Again, I have to stress, I am NOT claiming to be an expert in my field, nor am I claiming to have the best, most wonderfully fabulous job in the world, because we all know that working in the fashion industry is hard work, and It's no walk in the park. With "The Career Diaries" I want to give you a real insight into my work, not a sugar-coated, rose-tinted account of what I do. By doing that, maybe I can help others to be ambitious, and motivated to follow their passions and carve out their own futures.

So, now that I've explained myself, I can get started with the series! I hope you enjoyed this little update post, and that you will be as interested in reading this new series as I am in writing it.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend,
Peace,
WildChild,

New In: Sale Shopping

So my New Year got off to an interesting start! I was struck down with a horrible dose of the flu after catching it off my boyfriend (dammit, Yoseph) after taking care of him when he had it. Cue four whole days of a temperature, sniffles, and zero energy. Given my state of flu-induced misery, I decided to indulge in a little online retail therapy to make myself feel better, and boy did it work! You may have spotted my big Sale Edit post I featured recently recently, where I broke down all the best online sales happening right now. After all the work I put into the post, it was only fair that I got to pick up one or two bits for myself, right?!

Most of the pieces I picked up were from River Island, which I felt had one of the best online sales this year. These over-the-knee boots pictured above were reduced from €120 reduced to €35, which is pretty amazing if you ask me! I also picked up another cosy polo-neck, a cute embellished tee, and a few packs of thin gold stacking midi rings, I'm always losing mine!

I had a browse on quite a few other online stores, but nothing really jumped out at me, that is until I spotted this gorgeous green jewel-tone pleated midi skirt on Chicwish. I had seen similar versions on the Topshop website, but they we're pretty much all sold out, and a lot more expensive, too! This green skirt comes to about €30 in total (free shipping too!) and it also comes in 3 other fabulous jewel shades. I'd love one of each, they're just so pretty and just think of the outfit possibilities. You can browse and shop all the pieces in the widget below.

Thankfully I'm feeling much better now, and Im hoping to get cracking on some 2014 outfit posts as soon as this crazy weather settles down, it's fairly wild out there!
Hoping you're all having a great start to the new year,
Peace,
WildChild

2013 ~ Year in Review

Since I started this little blog of mine over three years ago now, I have written a "Year in Review" post every year, where I look back at the past 12 months, and all they have given me. (You can read my past Year in Review posts here and here.) I feel like I say this every year, but this year in particular has been so exciting, and I am so grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way. Here's a look at some of my highlights from 2013:

Moving to Dublin.
Back in May, I decided to up-sticks and move to the big smoke, (a.k.a Dublin City!) to further pursue my dreams of working in Fashion and Broadcasting. Moving to a new city is always difficult, and I found that leaving my friends and family to be the particularly painful, but I was determined to make it work. I transferred to Eason in Dundrum to keep myself financially independent, and I moved into a beautiful little apartment just outside the city centre. It wasn't easy at first, but thankfully so many good things started happening for me once I got there. Which leads me onto my next highlight...

Interning with Fashion One Tv.
As soon as I moved to Dublin, I started interning with the international Fashion Channel, Fashion One Tv, as one of their Irish content providers. I did a mix of presenting and production work for the channel, which included covering various fashion events, such as the Irish Fashion Innovation awards, and many different press events. I spent the summer interning for the channel, and I can honestly say that I learned SO much about the world of broadcasting, as well as gaining more valuable presenting experience. Despite the hard work, (I was doing this on as well as working in Easons) I loved every minute of it! You can read some of my Internship Diaries here and here. Just as I finished my internship with Fashion One Tv, another opportunity came a-knocking, one which ended up being a huge highlight of 2013...

Working full-time as a Stylist.
I have to admit , when I first started working full-time with iClothing as their Lead Stylist, I was a bit apprehensive, as I had never worked as a professional stylist before! My role as Lead Stylist for iClothing includes working on many different fashion-related projects for the company, such as styling and organising photo-shoots, trend forecasting, and prepping for various Tv slots as well as some social media management, and a few other odds and ends. It was difficult juggling so many different tasks at first, but I can happily say that after working for the company for nearly 3 months now, I have really found my feet, and I am absolutely loving the work that I'm doing. I have an amazing team around me, and together we have some great projects lined up for 2014, so watch this space!

Working with TV3's Xpose as their Fashion Shop Columnist and Stylist.
Over the past few weeks, I have been working alongside the lovely people at TV3 on some really exciting projects, one of which being an online column which I have recently started writing for Xposé.ie called The Stylist Diaries, in which I offer style advice to readers, and give them an inside look into the life of a stylist. I have always dreamed of having my own column, and getting the chance to do that for a brand like Xposé is a dream come true indeed! I have another really exciting project in the works with Xposé which I cannot wait to reveal to you all, but you will have to wait until the new year for more details on that. For now you can check out my first few columns for Xposé here and here.

Press Features and Blogger Award Nominations.

When I first started this blog, I never imagined the feedback and support I would receive throughout the years, and it still never ceases to amaze me just how wonderful my readers (thats YOU guys) can be. From being featured in some of Irelands biggest publications, to getting nominated for not one but two Irish blog awards, you incredible people continue to show your love and support, and for that I will always be SO grateful. My favourite thing about blogging will always be the people I meet, whether it is fellow bloggers who inspire me, or readers who humble me with their kind words and messages of encouragement. I'm always available for an email or a message, even a passing hello on the street, so don't be a stranger guys, I love hearing from you. After all, my blog (my life even) would not be what it is today without you, and I only hope I can keep you coming back again and again.

2014.

Overall, 2013 has had its fair share of struggles, and there was a lot of blood, sweat, and even a few tears put into the past 12 months, but I'm proud of the work that I have done so far, and I am feeling very positive about the future. I have so many plans, wishes and goals that I want to realise in 2014, for my blog, my career, and in my personal life. In the end, I have to accept that I have no idea what 2014 will hold, none of us do, but I plan to work hard and stay focused, and enjoy every minute of this journey.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2014, and thank you again for sharing this journey with me.

Big love to you all!

Peace,
WildChild
