Wild Child Interiors : Closet Inspiration

Im due to sign the lease for my new place tomorrow, and all going well, I will have a beautiful new house to decorate and make my own. I've always had a love for interiors and decorating, and so I have decided to incorporate it into my blog more. I'll be featuring inspiration posts, wish-lists, mood-boards, and even a look into my own personal spaces, and how I like to decorate them.

So lets kick things off with my first interiors post ~ some closet inspiration!

Most of you will recognise the above photo as Carries famous closet from Sex and the City. I think seeing her prance around in it during the show was actually what kick-started my obsession to have the perfect closet space. The idea of having your own little area to store all of your treasures, hide from the real world and play dress-up as long as you please, well that just seems like absolute heaven to me.

I always try to store my clothes as best I can, I think its so important to take good care of them, and I love having them displayed as nicely as possible. I hate the thought of a beautiful garment being stuffed away into the back of a wardrobe, I feel like its being suffocated! (I'm not even kidding) Beautiful clothes are like pieces of art, and like art, they need to be stored and displayed appropriately, so they can be fully appreciated! Would you guys agree?

The new apartment that I am due to move into will have a spare room, and I will partially be using it as a closet space, which I am SO excited about. I've been trawling the internet looking for interesting ideas for closet rooms, and here are some amazingly beautiful closets I have been using for inspiration.

I'm fully aware that the above closets we're probably designed with big budgets, which I obviously don't have right now, but I'm going to do my best to make a space thats functional and beautiful. I'll keep you guys updated on how Im getting on, and I promise that I'll share any good ideas, tips, and tutorials I have in future posts.

INSTA-LIFE #4 ~ My Life via Instagram

House-hunting, sun-frolicking, magazine photo-shoots, and new hairstyles ... here's whats been going on in my life lately, via my Instagram....

So as I mentioned in my last post, the past two weeks have been pretty hectic! I had my last few days working in Eason Galway, followed by an amazing leaving party, where I got to have some fun with my amazing work buddies, whom I will sorely miss! It was an amazing night! I also reached a whopping 1,000 followers on instagram that evening, so that was another little reason to celebrate!

as you can see above, I have been indulging in some of my favourite food. Lazy breakfasts, healthy lunches, and ice-creams galore! Mr Freezes are a must in every girls Summer Diet, you know!

Wine, cheese and cured meats teamed with old movies is my absolute favourite way to chill.

The weather has been so amazing recently, It feels like Summer is well and truly here! Despite having lots to do, I had to make time for some fun in the sun! Outdoor blogging, family barbecues, and moseying around town in the sunshine. Check out my Dad wearing my Obey hat, he liked it so much I hd to let him keep it ~ just look at him!

My outfit for house-viewings in Dublin last week ~ rolled-up Topshop jeans, Schuh ankle boots, Penneys blazer and MissGuided fedora. I'm also loving the new BarryM "Gelly" nail polish range at the moment, they're fantastic quality!

As I also mentioned yesterday, I got a completely new hairstyle last week! I was getting so sick and tired of my long hair, and so I decided to go for a much shorter, layered hairstyle. I went to COM Hairdressing in Temple Bar in Dublin, and I was so pleased with the service and staff, they we're so nice and helpful ~ my stylist Dylan spent over an hour cutting and shaping my hair. I am so pleased with how the style turned out, I definitely think a shorter do suits me better, no to mention its a lot easier to manage! I cant wait to try out some different styles with it, as it will hold volume and curls so much better now!

In other news, I was absolutely delighted (and a little bit shocked) to be asked to take part in a special "Style Diary" shoot for Stellar magazine's "Most Stylish in Ireland" Feature. As you can imagine, I was extremely flattered and so excited when they asked to shoot my 3 current favourite outfits for their July issue. Above is a sneak-peak of one of my outfits.

I have always been a massive fan of Stellar Magazine, and I've had the pleasure of collaborating with them a few times before, but this upcoming feature will my biggest by far! Im so excited for it to come out in July, which will also be my birthday month, yay!

aaaand finally, I am excited to show you guys this little festival-themed Streetstyle feature I took part in for this months Stellar Magazine. It was shot a few weeks ago outside St Stephens Green park in Dublin, and I am really happy how it came out. I was delighted to be featured among some lovely Irish bloggers and fashionistas, so be sure to pick up this month's issue to check it out for yourself!

Another bargain-tastic post for you all today ~ It's becoming a bit of a trend with my outfit posts recently, and I'm totally ok with that. I've been having such a great run with eBay recently, and have found so many great pieces in the past few months. Have you checked out my latest eBay bargain post yet? It has some of my current favourites. I have so many more to show you though, I feel another one coming on soon! In hindsight I'm actually sorry I didn't get a better shot of this gorgeous MotelRocks asymmetric skirt, its a lot cuter from the front! My bad peeps, the next time I feature it I'll be sure to show more angles.

In other news, this past week has been pretty crazy, most notably with my move to Dublin! First up is to find accomodation, which is never easy in the Big Smoke, as competition for nice places is stiff, and prices can be very high. My boyfriend, my good friend and I were determined to find somewhere big and spacious that wouldn't leave us flat broke, and of course a safe area is a must. Now I won't say too much about it now, as leases still need to be signed, but after a fair bit of hunting, I think we just may have landed the perfect place to live :)

I have lots more good news to share with you guys, including some exciting press features, summer internships (and my NEW HAIR!?!?!), but I will leave that until tomorrows post. eBay Bargain Picks #2

My "eBay Bargain Picks" is a series that features my current favourite bargains from my endless trawls across eBay! If you have never used eBay before, be sure to check out my eBay Shopping Guide to give you some handy hints and tips for starting out!

Outfit Post & Mini Review of the Michael Kors "Selma" Handbag

I hope you all had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend! Mine was absolutely fantastic, it was the perfect mix of partying, catching up with friends and family, and of course some chilling in the sunshine. I usually work bank holiday weekends, so this one was a special treat for me. It's also my last proper weekend in Galway for a while, so I wanted to make the most out of it.

So to get back into the swing of things I've decided to do a mini-review for you guys!

Michael Kors "Selma" Handbag

This post is the debut of my newest obsession, my first real "grown- up" handbag; the Michael Kors "Selma". I picked up this little beauty a few weeks ago in Brown Thomas, after falling in love with it in-store.

Basics:

The Selma has alot to boast abot. A classic shape, functional details (long and short straps on a bag are a big plus for me) a modest yet pretty logo, and is made from sturdy saffiano leather.

Interior:

The interior has just enough pockets and zipped compartments to fit all my bits and pieces, and it also has a handy little strap with a clip to attach your keys onto. It fits everything I need, but isn't oversized, so I don't end up filling it with stuff I don't need. (we're all guilty of it girls!)

Quality:

The Selma holds it's shape incredibly well, and doesn't slouch at all. I've also been told that the sturdy saffiano leather will keep the bags structure for a long time. Because saffiano leather is pre-treated, you don't need to use any protector spray on it, as it is more damage and stain-resistant than regular leather. Saffiano leather is typical of much more expensive handbag brands (such as the Prada "Saffiano" Tote)

Colour Options:

The Selma is available in a variety of colours including black, white, navy and even some more brighter hues such as pink and orange. I only had the choice of navy or tan in the Galway Brown Thomas branch, but I was happy to go with the tan shade, as I knew I could wear it with more outfits, and it had a more classic look to it.

Price:

The regular retail price of this bag is €360. A big chunk of change, undoubtedly. However, my boyfriend worked in Brown Thomas at the time and won a special discount incentive (cause he's awesome) and so was able to got me the Selma for half it's original price, which brought it down to €180! (AMAZING, I KNOW*)

Disclaimer: I understand that €180 is still quite a lot of money, but I wanted to treat myself for all my hard work recently, (both personal and professional) and for a bag of that quality that I would be using everyday ~ I felt it was a great investment.

Conclusion:

After using it nearly every day for over two weeks now, I can happily say that it is everything I need in a daily handbag. Its the perfect mix of functionality and beauty, and I feel that bit more sophisticated when it's on my arm. Overall, I'm delighted with the quality, and even without the huge discount I was lucky enough to get, I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for something classic and ladylike, yet extremely practical.

Dear readers, let me introduce you to my new favourite shirt, ever. I have worn it so many times since it arrived in the post a few weeks ago, but I have only gotten around to photographing it now for some reason! I know some of you might not like the double-denim thing I have going on in this post, but I feel that when dressing a goofy shirt like this, it's okay to be a little weird. Fashion is supposed to be fun after all, am I right?!

This see-through neon clutch is actually a bath/cosmetics bag from Penneys (Primark) that I thought would do nicely as a little clutch, what do you think?

Its probably due to the fact that Summer is finally here in Ireland, but I've gone crazy for all things tropical. I posted this amazing photo of a palm-tree print pants and shirt combo on my facbook page, and you guys absolutely loved it, so I figured that you guys might be feeling the tropical vibe too! :)

It's such a fun trend to play with, and it can be worn in so many different ways, not to mention its absolutely perfect for the Summer time! Keep it casual with just one tropical piece in your outfit, or go all out in a print explosion, with combination of shirt, pants, shorts, or even a skirt set.

I picked up these lovely new flats from Penneys a few days ago. I was really impressed with the quality and sure you can't beat Penney's prices!

I had a craft and sushi night with my sister and our friend Kitty recently, my sis Briona is making the most amazing cross stitch above, she's actually so good at it!

I also started my own little project of embellishing a beanie. So far so good, I can't wait to finish it!

Outfit Post: How to be a Heartbreaker

So the past few days have been spent sorting, packing and boxing in preparation for my move to Dublin next week. Its been a pretty hectic few days to say the least, with lots of things to get sorted. But hey, theres always time for an outfit post right?

Im really digging these kinds of outfits right now. Lots of colour and print ~ it's hard not to feel happy when your wearing something so bright and fun.* This Penneys skirt was bought ages ago (another sale-rack bargain, Im pretty sure it was a fiver) and I had been putting off wearing it for some time, as I was trying to find the perfect outfit that would "tone down" the craziness of the skirt. Then I thought, "to hell with that, why not tone it UP instead?" and so I teamed it with an equally crazy printed-pullover, and thus, this colour-infused outfit was born.

This post is also the debut of these gorgeous new white wedge-heels from eBay. (another bargain at €20 ~ including shipping!) I love them, and I can't decide if it's because they're totally weird and gross, or totally ladylike and perfect. Either way, you'll be seeing more of them in future posts. News ~Movin' on Up!

Just a quick post to let you all in on some exciting news... WildChild Stories is packing up and moving to Dublin!

To say I am excited about this move would be a big understatement, I can't friggin' wait! Even though its not all that far away, Dublin still a new city with new opportunities and new adventures!

I've been planning this move for quite some time now, and I wanted to make sure that the timing was right. I'm at the stage where I've done all I can in Galway relating to my field of work (media & broadcasting) right now. I love Galway to bits, and it will always be my home, but there are more opportunities for me, both in broadcasting and for my blog, up in Dublin.

Plus, it had gotten to the stage where I was making the trip up and down to Dublin on the bus at least once a week for different projects and work appointments, so it really feels like the right time to pack up and move!

Here's a few reasons why moving to Dublin is awesome:

No more bussing it up and down for Dublin events. (which often includes having to do your makeup on the bus ~ shudder!)
Getting to hang out with my Dublin friends more. That includes YOU, Dublin bloggers! Cocktails, coffees, pints ~ holla at me!
The weather is most certainly better than rainy (but lovely) Galway.
ZARA and H&M ~ Nuff said.

.. and a few reasons why moving to Dublin is not-so-awesome:

Galway-friends and family that I wont get to see all the time. But hey, thats what spontaneous weekend trips home are for!
Emperor City Galway's salt & chilly shredded-chicken. I actually don't know how I will survive without it. Tear.
Having to leave some of my clothes behind me in Galway. Boo!
PACKING. BOXING. LIFTING. MOVING. (we all know, it's a pain in the butt!)

I will keep you guys updated on the move, and once I get settled in a new place (which should be in about 2 weeks time) I have big plans for the blog that I want to get cracking on!

eBay Shopping Guide ~ My Bargain Picks #1

Hey guys! So this post is a little different from my usual posts, but it's one that is requested a lot!

As you guys probably know, I am a huge fan of eBay. I have been using it for about 5 years now to sniff-out amazing bargains and one-off pieces for my wardrobe. Over the past few years I have grown increasingly tired and frustrated with the standard and originality of some of the highstreet shops in Ireland, which pushed me to branch out into online shops and eBay even more to find fresh pieces that no one else would have.

I have gotten a lot of questions recently about where exactly i find some of these bargains, which sellers to search for and so on, so I have decided to start a series of "eBay Shopping Guides" to show you guys where you can get them! I will feature them in batches, so I wont be bombarding you with too much stuff all at once!

So before I get into my first batch of Top Picks, here are a few things you should know about ebay, a "Crash-Course" if you will!

What you need to know about eBay:

The main eBay sites I would recommend using are eBay.ie (Ireland). eBay.com (US) and eBay.co.uk (UK) They are the easiest to use and navigate, and they are all in English.
In order to use eBay, you have to register (i.e. set up a profile) and set up a PayPal account. This is how you will pay for your purchases. Your Paypal account then charges the amount to your credit card afterwards, so you never have to use your credit card on any eBay site. I have been using PayPal for years to send and receive money online, its super easy and 100% safe. Just make sure to read all their instructions and guidelines carefully, and keep your password safe!
Make sure to check sellers feedback before you buy from them, so you can see if they are a trustworthy seller.
If you have any questions about the item you want to buy, just ask the seller! eBay makes it easy for you to do so, and they will usually answer any questions you may have.
Always remember that shipping times can take longer than with normal online shops. Your seller will usually tell you how long and item will take to arrive, so you can have a good idea. When buying from outside Europe, the wait can be 2+ weeks, and when buying from Asia, you may have to wait 3 weeks, even up to a month for your item to arrive!
Some Asian sellers only stock really small sizes, so be sure to check the measurements before you buy.
If you buy something and it is never delivered to you, or it arrives and it is not what you expected, be sure to contact your seller about any problems you have and they will sort it out. If your seller does not reply to you, you can also open up an official claim in eBay to get a refund.

So they are just a few pointers that I feel everyone should know before they start buying from eBay. Now that we've cleared that up, lets get on to the fun stuff ~ My Top eBay Picks! I've even featured links to make it that much easier for you all.

Pleated leather skirt: I have to admit, I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of this skirt when I first got it, but I have gotten a few wears out of it, that style skirt goes with everything. Get it here // Outfit Post here

I gotta say Im really digging the whole "Sports Luxe" trend right now. Its such a clean and minimalist style, and I couldn't wait to try it out for myself. I was hunting through all my old clothes at home recently and I spotted this oversized Nike jersey that I picked up in a charity shop in Galway yearrrrs ago (probably with no intention of ever actually wearing it) and I just knew it would be perfect for this kind of look!

These American Apparel "terry" shorts are also an extremely old purchase, and one that I never thought would make it on to the blog, but here you go! This blazer however is a very recent purchase, and you may recognise it from my last outfit post here. Despite my initial fear of its crispy whiteness, (I was afraid I would immediately spill something on it!) I have been getting lots of wear out of it, and it goes with pretty much every outfit. SCORE!

Outfit Post: Monochrome

Monochrome has been a big trend for Spring/Summer this year, and so I thought it would be nice to give you my take on it. I wanted to make sure that my outfit was still fun and playful despite the lack of colour, so I choose my pieces wisely. I used to stray away from white pieces, as I was always afraid that I'd end up spilling something all over them and ruin them completely. But when I saw this beautiful crisp blazer in H&M recently, I set my fears aside and took the plunge into white! I guess its sort of like a Grown-Up blazer, one that I cant eat ice-cream, or roll down hills in, but I'm ok with that.

My new Grown-Up blazer just happened to go perfectly with this SugarLips skirt, which you got the teeniest peek of in a previous outfit post. (see here) So what's the best way to jazz up a white-on-white ensemble? Throw in a bitta midriff of course! This sequinned bralette from MotelRocks gave just the right amount of oomph to the look with its cropped cut and pretty sequins. Topped off with a gold chain and some funky platforms, and you're good to go! Now if only I could wear this to one of those fabulous black&white parties on Gossip Girl!

WildChild Adventures: Beyonce Mrs Carter Show ~ Photo Diary

As promised in yesterdays outfit post, (read here) here are some snaps from my adventures at the Beyonce gig on Sunday! My friends Ailbhe & Jess, and my sister Briona and I roadtripped it up to Dublin to catch the second night of the Mrs Carter World Tour Show in Dublin's O2 Arena.

Let me just start by saying that myself and Briona are huge Beyonce fans, from way back in the Destiny's Child days, so to get the chance to finally see Queen B live in concert after so long, well it was pretty damn amazing! As expected, she gave a show-stopping performance, even better than I had expected, and I expected big things! She has always been a huge inspiration to me, I admire her ambition, her work ethic, her attitude, and above all her message. Her music has always made me feel confident, empowered, and so so happy!

So yeah, it was a pretty great experience! Here are some photos from earlier in the night:

Briona's outfit!

My outfit! Most of you have seen this bralette on my facebook page already, I snapped it up in Penneys a few days ago for a mere €8, absolute bargain! Its from their new "Worn to be Seen" underwear range, which means you van choose your exact cup and waist size, so the fit is perfect!

Here are some snaps from outside the gig: Jess, Me, Briona and Ailbhe ~ lots of excited faces! As you can see, I didn't take any photos during the concert, as I was too busy singing, dancing, jumping around, and generally having an amazing time! To be honest, I don't really see the point in going to a concert and spending half your time trying to record the show and take loads of photos, I say just enjoy the moment!

Anyways, we were in the standing section, and we got a place very close to the front, so we had a wonderful view of everything, and were scarily close to Queen B herself! It was amazing!

The setlist was perfection, she sang everything I wanted to hear, and her costumes were phenomenal! My favourite had to be the bright patterned bodice set she wore for her new song "Grown Woman", which I later found out was designed by Kenzo, FAB!

Here's a quick snap of the one thing I bought while in Dublin, I have been hearing great things about the American Apparel Neon polish range, so I made it my mission to grab a bottle while I was in the city. I haven't used it yet, but Im pretty excited to try it out!

I also got to meet one of my lovely readers Jennifer, who came up to say hi after the concert. You were an absolute dote, and it was lovely to chat to you girl. United by our love of Beyonce, haha!

So thats all my gossip from the concert, I thought it would be nice to do a little feature on it, and I hope you guys enjoyed reading my little rambles :)

UPDATES: Recent press, New Blog Look and new Videos!

Hello lovelies!

I just wanted to do a super-quick post to show you guys my newest press feature! As some of you may know, back in December I was asked to take part in a Party Outfit-themed "How we wear it" feature for the first ever issue of Xpose magazine back in december. (read blog post here) I loved taking part in it, and I was so happy with how the feature turned out in the end. So when they asked me to take part the same feature again, this time with a "Print" theme, I was only delighted to!

These photos in the feature above have never published on my blog before, as I wanted them to be "fresh" for the magazine, but I will be doing a full outfit post with them in the next few days, so stay tuned!

Also, I have a new video to show you all. I have been working with Empower Studio and Fashion One Tv recently as a Tv Presenter, and one of our first videos has gone live! We covered the Fashion Innovation Awards back in March, and here is the video with all the coverage:

Wishlist #4 Printed Summer Suit

Hey guys! So as you can see I'm really getting into the whole Wishlist thing, and here is my most recent one featuring some of my favourite picks for a summery, tropical-themed look, as its something Ive been really into lately.

Im a bit obsessed with printed suits right now. They are so fresh and fun, and you can also mix and match the separates into other outfits, as well as wearing them together for maximum impact!

This plant-print suit is absolutely amazing, Im really into the longer short-length and the matchy-matchy green print ~ it so cool!! I would team with a pair of simple black strappy sandals to tone the print down (if thats at all possible!) and a matching chunky gold chain bracelet & necklace to swag it up that bit more. I also threw in a tan handbag to hold all my would-be summer essentials ~ ice-pops and paper umbrellas of course!

Outfit Post: Cherry Blossom Girl

How good has the weather been to us lately?! Actual sunshine, and even some warmth?! Dear readers, I can barely contain my excitement!

The beginning of May is always a particularly beautiful time in Ireland, as flowers start to bloom, and first signs of summertime appear. I decided to team up with the lovely Julia from Wonderfulife Productions to shoot a few nice Spring/Summer looks last week, the first one under a beautiful newly-blooming Cherry Blossom tree. I couldn't have been happier with the end result, just look at all those pretty colours!

I decided to go with a really bright and colourful outfit, so this yellow dress from AXParis was a perfect choice, and yes it really is that bright and beautiful in person, it's not just Julia's amazing photography skills. I teamed it with my faux fur stole from ASOS to add that little bit of warmth (it is still Ireland, after all!) and to add another pop of colour.

Just peeking out from underneath my AXParis dress is a white crochet skirt from Sugarlips boutique, which is an absolute beauty of a piece, but Im afraid you'll have to wait for my next outfit post to see it properly :) I used it as an extra layer against the wind, which any of you Irish fashion bloggers will understand. When taking outfit posts on windy days you run the risk of having a "Marilyn Monroe" moment, and so in Ireland, underskirts are a MUST.

So my dear readers, here's to longer days, warmer temperatures, and freedom from those layers upon layers, FINALLY!

Just anther quick outfit post from my trip to Spain, I didn't realise just how many I was able to fit in until I got home... I'm nearly finished with them, I promise!

I've had this beautiful kimono in my wardrobe for the longest time now, but I haven't gotten the chance to show it off on my blog until now! I just love the colour and print, and the oversized fit. Unfortunately it's not in the stores anymore as I bought it well over a year ago, but they have loads of similar versions on the highstreet right now, I've seen some beautiful ones in Penneys and River Island recently.

Can I just take a moment to say a humungous "Thank you" to my extremely talented and oh-so-patient sister Briona for taking all these photos for my while I was away in Spain. Amazingly enough, she genuinely enjoys taking outfit photos with me, which is why I was able to get so many different looks photographed during my trip! I repay her generously though, I am doing a MAJOR wardrobe clear-out at the moment, and she gets first dibs on everything!

Okay, back to the clothes!

I'm beginning to accept that I have an obsession with shirts, particularly those of the embellished-collar kind! This little number from NowiStyle hits all the right notes for me. Its lightweight, clean cut, and has the most beautiful collar embellishment. LOVE. You may have seen these shorts in a previous outfit post (read here) and they are the perfect little versatile pair of shorts, and I can already tell that I will be getting lots of wear out of them.

In other news, Im thinking of doing a pre-loved clothing giveaway, using some of the items from my Online Shop. I went to the River Island High Summer Press Day last week, It was so much fun! The press office was turned in to a tropical paradise, with fake grass and palm trees!

Six of my empty MAC containers ready to be exchanged! The Back2MAC program allows you to exchange any 6 empties for a free lipstick ~ how cool is that??!

Here is a snap of the lipstick I picked up ~ "Up the Amp" from the Satin range, and I think it could be my favourite lippy shade right now. I wanted a bright, fun colour for Spring/Summer, and this is a sort of violet/pink shade, its amazing!

Wish List #3 ~ Black & Gold

I was only when I was checking out some of my lovely fellow blogger's Wish List's that I realised I haven't done one in ages! There are quite a few things that I'm lusting after at the minute, so It feels like the perfect time to make a new one. I decided to give this Wish List a "Black and Gold" theme ~ given the colour palette. Its also very Rihanna inspired, Im seriously digging that girl's style right now! Tough, edgy, but with the the right amount of femininity too.
Here goes!

1: Black Metal Detail Party Sandals: I absolutely love these cute strappy heels from NewLook. You can see the rest of their beautiful range here.

2: Black "LA" Snapback: I like the simplicity of this snapback. Most of the ones I see are much louder and have slogans on them, this one is more chic!

3: ASOS Jumbo ID Necklace: I need one of these necklaces in my life. That is all.

4: Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane Boots: How perfect are these boots? Like seriously. These bad boys have been on my Lust-List for some time now, I've been trying to put money aside for a pair as they're a little pricey, Im nearly there now!

5: Chunky Lion Head Necklace: I know its a little over the top, but teamed with an all-black outfit, this would be the perfect statement piece. I love it.

6: Marc Jacobs Handbag: Any Wish List wouldn't be complete without at least one really expensive fantasy piece, and here's mine. I would kill for a Marc Jacobs bag, they're so functional yet elegant, and they look extremely sturdy too. I will invest someday!

7: Ray Ban Circle Lens Sunglasses: These are making a repeat appearance on my Wish Lists, and I can't help it. I want a pair of these so bad! They are my ultimate pair of Sunnies. I think I will have to invest in a pair come summertime. Unfortunately this pair are sold out right now (boo) but you can find more here.
