Outfit Post: September Girls

The Outfit:

Hat : Missguided (similar here and here) | Jumper : Siren London | Jeans : Penneys (Primark)
Loafers : New Look (c/o the O2 - Depeche Mode Tickets ~ I'd love to be going!!)
Belt : American Apparel | Sunglasses : Gok Wan (via Specsavers Ireland)

The Edit:

So here we are ladies and gentlemen, the Summer is officially over, and what a wonderful Summer it was. I know the weather is still absolutely sweltering out there, but I still like to acknowledge the change of seasons, it's pretty special time. To commemorate the coming chill, I braved the hot weather in my favourite jeans, and my newly acquired cosy Siren London sweater to show you guys my dapper new shoes!

Since summer began, I have had winter loafers on my mind. The shoe with the perfect comfort-chicness ratio was high on my priority list, and I was determined to find the perfect pair. I felt like I had searched every shop and website around, so you can imagine my elation when I found this pair in New Look for a great price. You can't really see from the photos, but they have the perfect little heel, I featured a link to them on ASOS above, where you can get a better look at them.

Looking back, this Summer has been pretty amazing, and moving to Dublin has brought me so many new opportunities, memories and friends. To be quite frank, I have been working my butt off all summer long, and I am beginning to see some wonderful results. I am a firm believer that if you work really hard and stay positive, good things will come, and I'm happy to say that I have some really exciting projects in the pipeline, so keep your eyes peeled for some exciting announcements!

Ps: Before I sign off, I'd just like to mention that I've submitted an entry into a presenting compeition, to be the new face of District MTV and if I win I will get to cover London Fashion Week for the channel later this month, which would be such an amazing experience, and basically a dream come true for me! Have a look at my entry video (its only 30 seconds long!) and feel free to throw me a vote if you like, it would be much appreciated.

Internship Diary #2

Firstly, thank you all for the wonderful response and encouraging words after my last internship diary post, it's great to see that you guys love them so much! My second week of interning with Fashion One Tv was hectic to say the least, but I've been having so much fun that I don't mind it one bit. Here's whats been going on.

Primark A/W '13 Collection Preview & Press Event

Last Tuesday I went along to the collection preview and European press event for Primark, which we obviously know as Penneys. Primark is one of my favourite brands as not only are they super-affordable, but they are always so on-trend, and quick to pick up on the latest fashions. So as you can imagine I was super-excited, and eager to see what an event like this would have in-store for us.

I was so impressed by the event. There were European press (grazia, glamour, et all ) in attendance, as well as some big European bloggers who were flown over specially for the event.
The collection preview was held in The Chocolate Factory, which boasted the perfect high-walled, spacious surroundings to show off the A/W collections.

We were treated to any amount of amazing food, there were freshly made salads in miniature pots, mini-burgers, sandwiches, and all sorts of sweet treats including meringues, and this delicious sweet powered-bread, which I had never tried before and instantly fell in love with! There was also a Photo-Booth to play with, along with a box of dress-up sunglasses, mini-hats and other fun things to mess around with. Needless to say myself and all the other irish girls present definitely had a lot of fun in the photo booth, I came home with so many hilarious photos!

Now on to the collection! I was completely and utterly blown away by what Penneys have in store for us next season! They have always been great, but this time they have really upped the ante, and brought out some amazing pieces, while still maintaining their amazingly affordable price-tag.The different collections consisted of "Highland Grunge", with its tartan and check pieces, to "The Graceful Story" with its beautiful ladylike coats and skirts. "Gothic Glamour" was full of decadent, lace pieces perfect for the party season, and "Cyber Jungle" boasted some beautiful tailored pieces and lush fabrics.

There are so many pieces from the A/W collection that I have my eye on, and I filmed a "top picks" section for the Fashion One piece, so once that's published I'll get to show you all some of my favourite pieces in more detail! The filming went really well, and I have to say that I am loving every minute of it, and I'm getting more comfortable and confident in front of the camera each time.

You can see a full outfit post (what I wore) to this event here.

River Island A/W Press Event

Next up was the River Island press event which was on the following Tuesday, and was held in the brand's press office on Grafton Street. River Island are one of my favourite highstreet brands and I always love attending their press events, not only because the clothes are always so amazing, but also the press officers are the nicest people, and an absolute hoot to hang out with.

I went along with my blogger buddy Leanne, and we were treated to delicious cartoon cookies, and some amazing asian food, and a nice strong cup of tea for good measure!

As per usual, River Island have an whopper collection in store for us next season, which is categorised into 7 different trends. My favourite had to be the 'Mash Up' trend, which was totally eclectic and 90's inspired, they have a twin set that reminds me so much of the movie Clueless! I also loved the "Bauhaus" trend which was more modern, with streamlined, tailored pieces, and some really interesting neoprene or "scuba" fabrics. Its safe to say that they will be as strong as ever next season, and I have a few pieces on my wish list already. Special mention has to be given to their shoes and accessories also, which they continually nail season after season, with the freshest heels, boots, hats and bags.

I didn't do any filming at the River Island press day on Tuesday, as we are going to choose a less busy time to film the collection, and I will be doing another "top picks" feature on my favourite pieces, so i'll be able to take a few more snaps and get a closer look at the collection when we come back to film in a few days time, but for now, I just had to show you all what they have in store for us!

myself and Nuala taking selfies as usual // some amazing metallic brogues // the beautiful Mash Up collection // some of the shoes and accessories for A/W13
nibbling on some delicious cookies // lusting after these cute loafers // beautiful handbag which doubles up as a backpack // statement jewellery collars // needing this paisley snapback in my life

So thats all from my second instalment of internship diaries, I hope you guys enjoyed it! Be sure to stay tuned for the next edition, as I have a lot more events and filming projects planned with Fashion One over the next few weeks, and I can't wait to share them with you all!

Outfit Post & Mini Review of the Michael Kors "Selma" Handbag

Pants & Blazer : H&M // Crop Top : Similar here // Heels : Zara
Necklace : eBay (Similar here) // Bag : Michael Kors "Selma"

All photos by Julia from Wonderfulife

I hope you all had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend! Mine was absolutely fantastic, it was the perfect mix of partying, catching up with friends and family, and of course some chilling in the sunshine. I usually work bank holiday weekends, so this one was a special treat for me. It's also my last proper weekend in Galway for a while, so I wanted to make the most out of it.

So to get back into the swing of things I've decided to do a mini-review for you guys!

This post is the debut of my newest obsession, my first real "grown- up" handbag; the Michael Kors "Selma". I picked up this little beauty a few weeks ago in Brown Thomas, after falling in love with it in-store.

The Selma has alot to boast abot. A classic shape, functional details (long and short straps on a bag are a big plus for me) a modest yet pretty logo, and is made from sturdy saffiano leather.
The interior has just enough pockets and zipped compartments to fit all my bits and pieces, and it also has a handy little strap with a clip to attach your keys onto. It fits everything I need, but isn't oversized, so I don't end up filling it with stuff I don't need. (we're all guilty of it girls!)

The Selma holds it's shape incredibly well, and doesn't slouch at all.  I've also been told that the sturdy saffiano leather will keep the bags structure for a long time. Because saffiano leather is pre-treated, you don't need to use any protector spray on it, as it is more damage and stain-resistant than regular leather. Saffiano leather is typical of much more expensive handbag brands (such as the Prada "Saffiano" Tote)

Colour Options:
The Selma is available in a variety of colours including black, white, navy and even some more brighter hues such as pink and orange. I only had the choice of navy or tan in the Galway Brown Thomas branch, but I was happy to go with the tan shade, as I knew I could wear it with more outfits, and it had a more classic look to it.

The regular retail price of this bag is €360. A big chunk of change, undoubtedly.  However, my boyfriend worked in Brown Thomas at the time and won a special discount incentive (cause he's awesome) and so was able to got me the Selma for half it's original price, which brought it down to €180! (AMAZING, I KNOW*)

Disclaimer: I understand that €180 is still quite a lot of money, but I wanted to treat myself for all my hard work recently, (both personal and professional) and for a bag of that quality that I would be using everyday ~ I felt it was a great investment.

After using it nearly every day for over two weeks now, I can happily say that it is everything I need in  a daily handbag. Its the perfect mix of functionality and beauty, and I feel that bit more sophisticated when it's on my arm. Overall, I'm delighted with the quality, and even without the huge discount I was lucky enough to get, I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for something classic and ladylike,  yet extremely practical.

I haven't done all that many reviews in the past, so I'd love to hear what you thought of this one, and if you'd like to see more reviews on this blog. ( Any suggestions you may have are very welcome also!)

Ps: For those of you who loved my Bart Simpson printed denim shirt in my last outfit post (see here) you can get it on sale from the Romwe mid-season sale that's currently happening ~ check it out here.

Dear readers, let me introduce you to my new favourite shirt, ever. I have worn it so many times since it arrived in the post a few weeks ago, but I have only gotten around to photographing it now for some reason! I know some of you might not like the double-denim thing I have going on in this post, but I feel that when dressing a goofy shirt like this, it's okay to be a little weird. Fashion is supposed to be fun after all, am I right?!

This see-through neon clutch is actually a bath/cosmetics bag from Penneys (Primark) that I thought would do nicely as a little clutch, what do you think?

As promised, here is the full outfit post from my recent Xpose press feature.  I am in total lust with these printed H&M pants. As soon as I saw them, I knew it was meant to be. I have been having lots of fun playing around with colour in my outfit posts recently (see here) and print is another trend that I have been enjoying experimenting with. Its such a fun and playful way to update your wardrobe for Summer!

In other news, some of you may have spotted from my Facebook page that I went to the Beyonce "Mrs Carter" world tour show last night with my sister Briona and some friends. I have always been a HUGE Beyonce fan, since way back in the Destiny's Child days, so to finally see her live was AMAZING.

She is such an incredible, inspiring woman, and I had the best time ever! I didn't take a lot of photos at the gig as I was too busy enjoying the show, but I have a few snaps that I might share in a small blog post tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Outfit Post: The World is Yours

Shirt & Shorts : NowiStyle // Sunglasses : eBay // Shoes : Converse

Hanging around at Burianna Beach (s'cuse the pun!)
Chilling with some Sangria!
Can I just take a moment to say a humungous "Thank you" to my extremely talented and oh-so-patient sister Briona for taking all these photos for my while I was away in Spain. Amazingly enough, she genuinely enjoys taking outfit photos with me, which is why I was able to get so many different looks photographed during my trip! I repay her generously though, I am doing a MAJOR wardrobe clear-out at the moment, and she gets first dibs on everything!

Okay, back to the clothes!

I'm beginning to accept that I have an obsession with shirts, particularly those of the embellished-collar kind! This little number from NowiStyle hits all the right notes for me. Its lightweight, clean cut, and has the most beautiful collar embellishment. LOVE. You may have seen these shorts in a previous outfit post (read here) and they are the perfect little versatile pair of shorts, and I can already tell that I will be getting lots of wear out of them.

In other news, Im thinking of doing a pre-loved clothing giveaway, using some of the items from my Online Shop. I've seen bloggers such as Leanne from Thunder & Threads do it, and it seemed to go down really well with her readers, what would you guys think of that? I was thinking of starting out with my Jeffrey Campbell boots, and an InLoveWithFashion dress! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Outfit Post: Trust no Bitch

Tee Shirt & Faux-Leather Shorts : NowiStyle // Kimono : eBay // Sunglasses : eBay //
 Belt : Moschino  // Shoes : Penneys/ Primark (€5 bargain!)

Here is the third look from my series of holiday outfit posts, Ive been home for a few days now, and Im already missing the sun desperately. At least I can live vicariously through these outfit post, and know that I was once happy in the sun! The tee shirt and shorts I am wearing here are two very welcome new additions to my wardrobe, courtesy of NowiStyle, as I mentioned previously, I received a lovely parcel from them just before flying to Spain, and you can see one of the other pieces I got in this outfit post. I am really feeling these leather shorts, I was wearing my other H&M pair to bloody death, so its great to have a new pair to break in! If you don't have a pair of loose faux-leather shorts in your wardrobe, then you need to pick up a pair immediately, as they go with errrrythang.

Also, how beautiful is this fringed kimono?!? I have shown you snippets of it in previous outfit posts  but I've never gotten to show it off properly, I just love it! It was also a serious bargain on eBay too, I've put a link in the outfit description so you can check it out for yourself. I'm so tempted to get it in red also! Stay tuned for more holiday outfit posts in the coming days/weeks, and also an exciting giveaway that I have in store for you guys :)
