Internship Diary #1

Firstly, sorry for the lack of blog-posts over the past week, things have been pretty crazy on my end with unpacking, settling into Dublin life, and starting my internship with Fashion One & Empower Studio of course! I think it will take me a little while to settle back into my regular blogging routine, but I am determined to get back into the swing of things, so please bear with me dear readers!  Last week was my first working with Fashion One and Empower, and it was a busy one! As promised, here is the first of my Internship Diaries!

Persil Irish Fashion Awards

Bag : Michael Kors  // Necklace : eBay

On Wednesday my Fashion One videographer Lawrence and I went along to the Persil Fashion Awards which were held in the rooftop restaurant of Dunnes Stores on Henry Street. The event itself was so much fun, with 8 of irelands finest aspiring young designers showcasing their creations in the hopes of winning the whopping €10,000 prize towards their career. All of the designs were spectacular, and just like the fashion events like these I have attended before, I always feel so inspired and uplifted by the creativity and ambition of Irelands young fashion students, they really are SO amazing. The filming went really well, Im very happy with the footage, and I cant wait to share it with you guys once Fashion One releases it.
You can see a wee feature on the Persil Awards on Xpose here if you fancy (you'll spot me in the frow!)

Littlewoods A/W Collection Launch

Shirt & Snapback : Penneys (Primark) // Shorts : Warehouse // Rings : ASOS

The next evening we were off again to film at the Littlewoods A/W collection launch, which was another really fun event. Held in the loft of the beautiful Fallon & Byrne food-store off grafton street, there was lots of prosecco, delicious nibbles, and of course, some fabulous clothes to fawn over. The lovely Caroline Morohan (of RTE fame) was hosting the event, and she did a wonderful job. As the official spokesperson for Littlewoods Ireland, Caroline has a great feel for the brand, and I even got to interview her about the new collection, which went really well. She's an absolute sweetheart to chat to, so down-to-earth, not to mention a total babe. (I'll post up the finished video as soon as Its gone live!)
After the launch I went to meet my friend Laura for some Cosmos (YUM) and a log-overdue catch-up, and it was the perfect end to a long, but great day.

I have lots more fun projects, events and collaborations in the pipeline for Fashion One in the coming weeks, but I won't say too much about them just now, you'll just have to stay tuned for the next "Internship Diary" post to see what we'll be getting up to next! You can also use the links at the end of this post to follow me on Instagram (@WildChildCiara) Facebook and Twitter as I update those regularly when Im out and about!

Wild Child Updates: Internship with Fashion One

Firstly, Thank you all so much for your well-wishes and lovely messages regarding my moving to Dublin and signing the lease on my new house. I really appreciate it so much, you guys are the best!

I am settling in nicely, and very nearly finished all my unpacking and sorting! I just wanted to do a little update blog to reveal some exciting news to you all. I am officially an intern with the irish team of the international fashion channel, Fashion One Tv!

I have presented for the channel twice before now (see here and here) but I am delighted to be officially part of the team at Empower Studio. My work with the channel will consist of writing and producing pieces for filming, along with heading to various fashion events to cover them for the channel. I am so excited to get more involved in the production and script-writing side of things, as its something I've always really enjoyed, and I hope to get a LOT done over the next few months with Fashion One.

As always, I will keep you guys updated on my adventures, and I have decided to do a little "Internship Diary" series, to keep you all in the loop on my projects. I'll be constantly on the lookout for new pieces to cover, so if you are involved in any sort of fashion related project (business, clothing line, event etc,) be sure to drop me a line (see my contact tab here) to let me know what you're doing, and I'll consider featuring you on the channel.

First on the agenda is the Persil Irish Fashion Awards, which Im covering for Fashion One tonight! I better go finish prepping and getting ready, be sure to keep an eye on my facebook, twitter, and Instagram (@WildChildCiara) for updates throughout the night, it should be lots of fun!

Wish me luck!

Outfit Post: Bow Down B**ches (& exciting announcement)

Jumper : // Necklace : H&M // Embellished Leggings : eBay // Boots : Jeffrey Campbell

I know this outfit post might come across as a little offensive, but in truth, its rather tongue-in-cheek. Do you ever get the craving just to wear something a little silly, or controversial even? I think that this pullover from GoFavor fits the bill perfectly, not to mention it only cost me about €10. Its a bit silly yes, but I think its fun. Having said that, I haven't shown it to my mother yet, I don't think she would be too pleased with me. Sorry Mom.

These wicked embellished leggings are yet another eBay bargain, and I think they are just "out-there" enough to suit the jumper! I also think they would look amazing teamed with a plain loose t-shirt, perfect for a festival or a concert! They are also serrrriously cheap, I've provided a link to the eBay listing in the outfit description, if anyone's interested.

In other news.....

I have wonderful news to share with you guys...

I am the new presenter for the Irish Fashion One Tv!!!!!!!

Fashion One is a huge international Fashion channel, and they have just started their Irish leg of the channel, under the organisation and control of Empower Studio. I tested for Fashion One at the Rihanna for River Island Launch a few weeks ago, (read the blog post here) and I was so delighted when I found out that they were impressed with my abilities, and wanted me on board as their newest presenter. I am so so happy, as this type of work is my chosen career-path, and to be making this kind of progress with it is just so so exciting and encouraging.

We will be covering lots of different fashion events around the country, and I promise I will keep you all updated on the blog as best I can. The first event that we are working at is the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards, which are on tomorrow night in the Radisson Galway. I covered the event last year for Diet Coke Tv, (read the blog post here) and I am so happy to be covering it again this year, its always such an amazing and inspiring night for Irish Fashion.

Thats all my news for now guys, I will be updating live from the awards tomorrow night, so be sure to check out my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram (@WildChildCiara) pages to stay updated on all the action!

PS: In case you're wondering, the title of this post is in homage to Queen Bey, and the lady herself's new track, "Bow Down", a sample of which you can listen to here.

London Fashion Week Day 2 ~ House of Holland Show ~ Photos & News!

Hey guys!
Firstly I have to say that Im so sorry for not being able to post about this sooner, but unfortunately my internet was pretty much non-existent while I was away! So now that I am finally able to blog properly again, its time to show let you guys in on all the gossip from the House of Holland show, which I went over to cover for Pretty Polly! It was such an amazing experience, and although I cant show you the finished video just yet, here are some of the behind-the-scenes snaps in the meantime to fill you in on all the fun!
First things first, here's what I wore for the show! I wanted something comfortable and functional as I knew I would be running around, but I also wanted to be happy with my outfit, so I chose a recently purchased New Look maxi skirt with a double slit at the front (€10 on sale- JOB!) and teamed that with an American Apparel crop top. I finished the look off with my trusty ASOS leather leopard print jacket, which I am still hopelessly in love with! :)

Armed with my blogger pass, Im ready to go!

The show was held in an underground car-park, it was the coolest location, and there was an army of Henrys standing guard outside the show entrance!

Here I am amongst all the chaos, look how many photographers and press there are there, and that wasn't even all of them, crazy stuff!

As soon as the show started I immediately fell in love with this seasons collection, it was so fresh and colourful, in typical House of Holland Style! This season's designs were entitled "Buzz Kill", and the collection took inspirations from both the glamour and grunge of the 90's. It boasted some fun and quirky little pieces, including this t-shirt below which I loved, as well as some beautiful tie dye silks and metallic prints!

The front-row pack (or FROW, as its commonly called) was particularly impressive this year, with  Kelly Osbourne,  Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung, Poppy Develigne, Leigh Lezark and Nicola Roberts among guests. The wonderful Laura Whitmore (whom I had the pleasure of meeting on LFW Day 1) was also back stage broadcasting live for eBay!

I also had a quick chat with Henrys lovely Mum Stephanie again, she is such a sweet lady, I swear she gets prouder of him ever year!  She also looks absolutely fabulous all decked out in his collections, might I add :)

It was so amazing to be in the midst of all the madness and interviews, I sort of wish I had a proper microphone for my camera, as in situations like this one, you really need one for sound purposes!

I also caught up with the wonderful Pixie Geldof again, who was super excited for Henry's new collection, she even managed to get a sneak peak before the show, the lucky thing! She couldn't have been sweeter, its always a pleasure chatting to her :)

I also chatted to the rather dashing Brendan Courtney, who was at the show filming for Off the Rails, and boy was he working it like a pro! Its amazing to watch him interact with all the guests and stars, I could really learn alot from him, he's so warm and charismatic. Here's a snap of him with my partner-in-crime Byron, who also acted as my cameraman for the whole trip!

Getting to see Henry showcase his designs for a second time was such an amazing experience, and it was even more hectic than last time, if you can believe it! I absolutely relished the experience however, and loved every minute of the madness. As I said after last seasons experience, its made me realize even more that this type of work is what I want to do, all day everyday! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and stay tuned for the video, its coming soon I promise! More photos and  info on the fashion show here and here To check out my adventures from last season's show, check out the photo diary here, and the behind-the scenes video here!

London Fashion Week - Day 1 - Photos and Updates

So I'm here in London for Fashion Week!!! This is going to have to be  a rather quick post today, as I have to run out the door again! Internet was being funny last night so I wasn't able to upload anything unfortunately, but here is a quick update of the situation for you all :) Myself and Byron landed safe and sound yesterday, and although we missed most of the first day, we decided to pop into Somerset House anyway to see what was going on! We met up with loads of the Irish bloggers, Tar Mar, Leanne Woodfull, Conor Clinch, Sarah & Jennie from WWIT, and a few others. It was so great to meet up with some familiar faces, some of the girls I had never even met properly before so it was really great to have coffees and chats. I had an absolute blast hanging out with them, and as per usual with LFW, there was some serious style (and celeb) spotting to be done! (Above Photo: Here's a quick snap of  some of the group of bloggers from Ireland, from left to right: Sarah & Jennie from WWIT, Myself, Byron Yeates, and Tar Mar!) Here's a quick snap of my Blogger pass for LFW, its so funny to see my details printed out on a card like that, I feel so official! It was a bit of a proud blogger moment I think!

I also had the pleasure of meeting one of my idols, Laura Whitmore! Yes, as lame as it sounds, she is someone I really look up to, particularly from a career perspective, I just think she does her job so well, and I would aspire to someday be in the position she is! She was so nice and friendly though, and so easy to chat to. Its funny, as I have had the opportunity of meeting quite a few big names through my work with Fashion Week before, but she is the only person that I've met that made me a a bit jittery and nervous. (So lame, I know!) Check out the head on me, FanGirl or what like? I'm such a dork :D

Thats all my news for now really, as I arrived so late yesterday (and was horribly sleep deprived) I decided to take it easy on the videos and all that, but todays a new day! Im heading in now to do some street style spotting and catch some shows hopefully, and I'll be videoing my adventures so I'll see who I can grab for a chat! The House of Holland show is also later this evening, and I'm super excited about that! I'll try to update as much as I can via my Twitter and Instagram, so if you're not following me on those yet, get involved! I better go now, so wish me luck!

WATCH: Diet Coke Tv at the IDC Fashion Show Video!

I'm so happy to be able to show you the latest video I've done with Diet Coke Tv, this time I'm reporting at the International Design Collective Fashion Show at the Volvo Ocean Race Galway. I had such a blast on the night, you can read all about the night itself by clicking here. I'm so happy with how the video turned out, I think I'm slowly but surely getting better at the whole presenting thing, its just so much fun!

Hope you all like the video, I'd love to hear your thoughts, let me know in the comment box below. xxx

Reporting for Diet Coke at the International Design Collective Fashion Show!!

One of the main features if the Volvo Ocean Race in Galway Last week was the International Design Collective Fashion Show, organised by Goldenegg Productions. Held in the luxurious Global Arena, the event showcased 10  different collections from designers both homegrown and worldwide. I was there to cover the event for Diet Coke Tv, and I had an absolute blast. :D Haven been kindly given two extra VIP tickets, I gave them to two of my sisters who accompanied me on the night. While they got to sip endless glasses of Champagne, nibble on delectible hors-d'uerves and mingle with the west's fashion elite, I on the other hand had work to do! Not that I really minded,  as I love this kind of work so much :D The filming and interviews went really well, and I think I can safely (and very happily say) Im getting better at this. Well, more relaxed at least, but that alone makes a huge difference!! I cant wait to see the finished piece, Im sure it will be great. You can see my last Diet Coke Video here where I covered the Fashion Innovation Awards back in April. I will have to wait a little longer to see the finished video, but I will share it with you all as soon as its done! As with all event like this, I needed to look my best, and I was so lucky to have the wonderful Lyndsay on hand from Absolute Hair Galway to work her magic on my barnet. She went for a non-fussy look, with lots of volume and curls, and I was really happy with the results. I strongly recommend paying them a visit of you're in Galway, they're AMAZING!

I also picked up some bits and pieces earlier in the day, some Impress Nails, which are so handy if you are on the go and don't have the time to sit down and do you nails, these are an absolute GODSEND! Just pop them on and away you go! I chose a lovely deep wine colour, which complemented my dress and makeup nicely! You can get these in Primark/Penneys for only €7, and they come in a wide range of colours and patterns. I also picked up a packed of 5 eyelash sets from Penneys/Primark, as I had heard from friends that they were much the same as the expensive "Girls Aloud" eyelash range, and at only €8, they were great value. They turned out to be very good, and just subtle enough for me. I personally hate the look of massive OTT eyelashes, save it for halloween people! Anyhow I made sure to use my own Duo eyelash glue (available from Brown Thomas) with these as I am wary of cheap eyelash glue. I would really recommend these lashes, for the price and the quality, but I HAVE NOT tried the glue, just for the record!

I also picked up some new lipstick for the event, I have wanted to get a deep berry shade for ages, and the MAC  matte lipstick in "Diva" seemed the perfect colour!

My dress is from the Savida range in Dunnes Stores (believe it or not) and was bought by my older sister, and I borrowed it for this event. I was so happy with it! My shoes are from Zara.

Myself and my sister Claire

Briona and Claire looking fabulous as per usual!

The fashion show was spectacular, I was really impressed by the standard of the designs, and although I was busy throughout the night, I managed to share some sneaky snaps via instagram. If you're not following me on instagram you can find me @WildChildCiara, its a great way to stay updated! Here are some of the instagram picks I took on the night:

Briona, Myself and Claire enjoying the show!

Its on like Donkey Kong!

Mark T. Burke's hat designs killing it as per ususal!

Claire and I

The Impress Nails turned out so well! And stayed put for the night!

There were Claddagh rings in the gift bags, how very fancy!

All in all, the night was a total success and I had such a great time filming with Colin from Diet Coke. The more I do this kind of presenting work, the more I fall in love with it, its would be such an exciting career to have. I don't want it to ever end! Im so excited to see the video, and show you guys, but I must be patient for now :) Here are some more photos from the night, taken buy the lovely Darach of DarachPhotography:

I just cant resist a bitta messin' :D

You can check out the rest of Darach's photos from the night here!

Thats all for now guys, I hope you likes this post, sorry if it was a bit long for some of you, but I didn't want to leave anything out! Let me know what you think of it all in the comment box below!
